Devon Scarlatti is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, composer, audio engineer and prolific songwriter as solo artist from the synthelectronic band Maestro Eternal. She’s been a multi-instrumental musician with her principle instrument being in piano for 31 years, saxophone as her secondary for 28 years and a licensed audio engineer for around 14 years working in the professional music industry working with Grammy Award winning artists and engineers alike.
Her journey as a music instructor began in 2005 when she began teaching piano in her ranch home at the time in the Texas Hill Country. She has worked as a private music instructor for around 19 years now offering piano, saxophone and clarinet lessons to students of all ages ranging from 3 to 60 years old and beyond. Devon never stopped having a passion for teaching music to others since. And has always felt it was an important mission for her to spread that same appreciation, love and knowledge she has of music to others.
Devon developed her own teaching methods mainly to counteract her own experiences with music teachers in the past at a very young age that were more about the very “strict rules” of classical music than cultivate creativity or encourage the joy and fun around learning to play music. That’s why she tries to allow her own students to connect with and have fun with music as much as possible, focusing on what their goals and musical interests are. While still teaching valuable skills that will stick with them throughout the years and help propel them forward in their own journey as a musician. And she works with both kids and adults in with many different genres of music and a number of different curriculums depending on the students interests and goals.
Currently, Devon is returning to her alma mater at Berklee College of Music (online) in ultimate pursuit of her Master’s in Music Composition for Film, TV and Games. When Devon isn’t working on furthering her own career in music or teaching others, some of her hobbies include writing, painting, hiking, video games, going to the movies and spending time with her pets at home.
